I Came Upon a Child of God

I came upon a child of God, he was walking along the road, and I asked him, where are you going?

                                                                                                                   Joni Mitchell

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.  Sound familiar?  Lately, all around the world this self-evident truth seems less and less evident.  And yet, here we are at the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, reprising the planetary alignments and watery energies of the French revolution and signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence.  We are all children of God, equally worthy of love and respect, even for those of us who don’t see the world the way we want them to.

A shift is underway leading to our reawakening to unity consciousness, to the realization that our heart knows life truths, even as our minds respond to headlines with fear.  What if, some two hundred thousand years ago, an ancient civilization on Earth experienced a life-altering physical change?  As that physical change is gradually being reversed, fully half of the eight billion souls on this planet are now in some stage of spiritual awakening.  Those who are still looking outside themselves for solutions to the world’s problems may take a bit longer to reach this state of heightened awareness, while those who manifest solutions from inside, from their heart consciousness, will respond from love, not hatred and anger.  There is power in positive thinking.

Think of the butterfly effect, which holds that every action, every thought, has the potential to change global outcomes.  You hold the power within you to shape your future.  You are living a thought-created reality, in all its pain and glory, as part of your Akashic soul contract.  Your life has a purpose, a plot line, and you are navigating this life story without any remembrance of past lives, guided by your free will towards a goal.

What is that goal?  It was chosen by your soul, your spirit guides and spiritual teachers before you were born, with the intention of elevating your consciousness.  Does this sound more like Eastern than Western philosophy?  Yes.  But that doesn’t make it wrong.  You are a product of your cultural and familial influences, so allow yourself some space to digest these concepts.  It boils down to this:  we all go to school to learn important lessons to apply in life, so think of your life span as one long lesson in Earth School.  When you graduate from Earth School, your soul returns home to rest and integrate and reflect on this lifetime and what your experiences taught you.  In time, you may be ready for another lesson and choose a new set of life circumstances.  See, it’s not so far-fetched as all that!
